Holiday Beer Pairings

We've paired our favorite beer with some of the most popular holiday fare.

Scallops

Bitter notes can help level off and balance sweet ones, that's why the bitterness of a hop-forward American IPA or Belgian Saison is a perfect match for the natural sweetness of scallops.

For an American IPA, we suggest Lagunitas IPA

Savor the moment as the raging hop character engages the Imperial Qualities of the Malt Foundation in mortal combat on the battlefield of your palate!

For a Belgian Saison, try Ommegang Hennepin

Aromas of spicy yeast and honey lead to flavors of ginger, toasted grain, and peppery spice. Sparkling carbonation, a pleasant lingering spice, and a crisp dry finish round out this beloved farmhouse ale.

Beef

TOP SIRLOIN ROAST

A Pale Ale like Sierra Nevada Pale Ale will complement a Top Sirloin Roast nicely.

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale

A delightful interpretation of a classic style. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale has a deep amber color and an exceptionally full-bodied, complex character. Generous quantities of premium Cascade hops give the Pale Ale its fragrant bouquet and spicy flavor.

RIBEYE STEAK

An IPA or Stout will pair well with a nice Ribeye steak.

IPA - Bell's Two Hearted Ale

Perfectly balanced with a malt backbone and combined with the signature fruity aromas of Bell's house yeast, this beer is remarkably drinkable and well suited for adventures everywhere.

Stout - Allagash Belgian Style Stout

A generous portion of dark caramelized candi sugar produces a hint of raisin in the finished beer. The addition of oats lends Black a silky mouthfeel, which is enhanced by rich flavors of coffee and dark chocolate.

Ham

HONEY OR BROWN SUGAR GLAZED HAM

A sweeter ham, like a honey or brown sugar glazed ham, will pair well with a European Wheat Beer.

Paulaner Hefeweizen

A specially top-fermented yeast gives this beer its unmistakable character: tangy, light, fruity, and only a tad bitter. Its natural tastes remain due to the unfiltered method of brewing.

HICKORY SMOKED HAM

A Hickory Smoked Ham will pair well with a Pilsner.

Spaten

This pilsner is very elegant, pale in color, with a dry and hoppy finish. Its crisp, clean taste is due to the extra fine Bavarian Hallertau hops.

Lamb

LEG OF LAMB

A leg of lamb will pair well with a porter, like Founders Porter.

Founders Porter

Pours silky black with a creamy tan head. The nose is sweet with strong chocolate and caramel malt presence. No absence of hops gives Founders’ robust porter the full flavor you deserve and expect. Cozy like velvet. It’s a lover, not a fighter.

ROASTED RACK OF LAMB

A Roasted Rack of Lamb will pair well with a Pale Ale, like Charter Oak Pale Ale.

Charter Oak Pale Ale

LOCAL - DANBURY, CT! The beer starts off a well-balanced ale with plenty of malt backbone and the hops become ‘alive’ on the back end.  This west coast styled beer pours a distinctive amber shade and enjoys a nice head of foam.   The Royal Charter Pale Ale beer shows a citrus nose and is designed to be a sessionable beer.

Crab

A Triple or Pilsner is a great option for pairing with crab.

Allagash Triple

This golden ale carries notes of passion fruit and honey in the aroma. A suggestion of biscuit is found in the beer’s varied palate. Brewed with our 2-row barley blend, hopped with Nugget and Hallertau, then fermented on our house yeast, Tripel offers up a complex, yet dry finish.

Two Roads Ol'Factory Pils

We use a combination of classic German as well as American hops and malt varieties. Rich bready sweetness up front with a lingering toast note, reminiscent of dessert bread. Spicy hops character adds complexity, and a well-balanced bitterness persists through the finish, with a hint of pine and pithy citrus.

Shrimp

A Hefeweizen, is the perfect complement for Shrimp.

Spaten Franziskaner

Franziskaner Hefe-Weissbier Naturtrüb is a natural and elegant Weissbier protagonist from Bavaria with a lush white foam. The copper-golden wheat beer with yeast-like opalescence unfolds an aromatic fragrance with harmonious fruit in which bananas and citrus greetings.

Sole Fillets

A Pale Ale will pair perfectly with sole fillets.

Oskar Blues Dale's Pale Ale

Dale’s Pale Ale is a defiant, proud, voluminously hopped pale ale. It delivers a hoppy nose and assertive-but-balanced flavors of pale malts and citrusy floral hops from the first sip to the final swig.
