History

A pioneer in the superstore movement, Caraluzzi’s opened one of the largest liquor stores in Connecticut about 20 years ago, long before others. The store was originally called Nutmeg Discount Liquors, a wine and spirits 15,000 square foot super-store, located in downtown Bethel, CT. The store ranks in Food & Wine Magazine as one of the top 100 wine stores in the country.

In 2016 the store was remodeled and renamed Caraluzzi’s Wine and Spirits to accommodate growth plans. With more locations in the works, we’ve taken the same strategy as our supermarkets and rebranding for growth. Plus we’ve never even sold Nutmeg at our liquor store so we’re thinking you won’t even miss it.

In February of 2017, Caraluzzi’s Wine & Spirits opened a second location in Danbury, CT. Caraluzzi’s Wine & Spirits Danbury Fairgrounds which offers the same product, service and expertise as our flagship location.

Caraluzzi’s Wine and Spirits is not part of a cooperative and not owned by the Caraluzzi’s food market chain.
